I was lucky to get SVP8 the other day, but I need some help with it. I got used to two editors but now I can't find a few features in it that I've seen are being used in videos. - speeding up and slowing down - pan-zoom as an effect, not transition - a simple crossfade effect without pixelating or blurring .. and a few questions of achieving an effect (colouring and faces in particular) like in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfxwmRPtaj0I haven't even tried to make layers yet. Don't know how.

Okay, well here's what I know xD (I have SVP9, so it might vary a bit) I THINK to slow/speed clips down/up you hold down ctrl, left click on the edge of the clip, and drag it either longer or shorter to speed up/slow down I think to crossfade you just drag a clip so it overlaps the oen you want to fade to That should do the trick As for pan, zoom, there should be an icon on your clip (placed on the timeline) that says something like "Event Pan/Crop" If you click on it, a window should pop up with a still image of your footage and a box around it, with a timeline underneath. Drag the head to the end of the timeline, then make the box on the thumnail smaller. That should zoom it in Colourings I'm still trying to master myself xD If I'm no help, I'm sure there's plenty of tutorials on youtube for them ^.^

Penny, thank you very much, however for another thing I discovered, and it is very cool!! ;D I'd already known about the pan/crop thing if only to zoom in or out still part (not sure if I am clear enough..), but what I did not know was when ctrl pressed, I could crop out those awful black borders, so my full picture fits into the video, and Sidsel won't have to crop it. ;D I still have to work on zooming in and out. When pan/crop event clicked, I see the footage, a circle, a huge F and there is the timeline below. Not sure what head is? My video editing terminology really sucks..

Okay, well the head is basically the thing you drag on the timeline xD I dunno it's hard to explain It's the verticle line that kinda shows where you are on the timeline Anywa,y if you drag it to the end, then make the box with the F in smaller, thne it should zoom it

You're very good at explaining. Yeah, I know about the vertical line on timeline, as I use it to preview transitions and fix colours. So that's the head. I think I am getting to zooming. Thanks again.

I had to make another video to teach myself how to do things in my new toy, so I also took your advice and did something with zooming at some parts, and I wonder if I could be able to repeat it! ;D img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/Annifrid/ABBA/th_progress.jpgIt's work in progress. Just click on this awful picture!

Thank you. I've finished 1 minute this morning (that's all there's going to be) and my eyes hurt. Will post the link later as it takes 90 min. to upload. I sometimes still wonder if I would be able to make a particular effect again, especially zoom. I also had a slight problem with deleting parts of footage in order to synchronize the music and images. In some cases even if deleted parts were deleted indeed, the footage would mysteriously pop up again.

Yeah, vegas can be pretty complicated at first xD I pretty much just played around and did lots of tests until I understood it xD but your video shows you're catching on pretty fast

I am catching up fast because ever since I got it a few days ago I've been sitting and exploring. But some effects have still been achieved combining the two editors, vista and win7. Now I have a different kind of problem, hehe. I've uploaded the footage to Youtube but it turns out the picture is skewed. So I had to run the file through Win 7 maker to get 16:9. Not sure about output formats in Vegas 8. I try saving for widescreen but even if the picture is like for widescreen, there is this 4:3 box in which it comes. I also save "video for windows" (avi). So I have to upload again, but this time it is smaller, so the upload should run faster.

This is what I have learned so far, with a few exceptions (like editing parts in other makers..) It has nothing to do with DH, but this song will forever be embedded in my mind as a kind of DH song. I saw this wonderful video some time ago and loved it, but since there are many vids with DH, I chose another subject. I understand now what it means to work in a serious editor. I used to finish something in a day or two, depending on the task. This is really a different story. And I have yet to learn. ;D

Yes, it's Abba. You can see in the second part of the video why I like Bree. ;D But my friends on the Abba forum won't like all the effects and fast flow of pictures, because they like to stare. ;D
ET is a fantastic song! I heard it on youtube in a video some time ago and I instantly loved it. <3
